Release order protects the reveals
Films were written assuming you knew exactly what the previous film revealed and nothing more. Watching in release order preserves every reversal — including the ones a chronological run quietly spoils an hour early.
Chronology helps a second pass
Once you know the reveals, chronology turns the saga into one continuous history. It is the better rewatch, the better group watch, and the better way to understand how a single decade of in-universe time reshaped the planet.
